Field Dialog Box
The Field dialog box groups the options for adding fields in text entities, BlockAttributes and table cells.
Category
Specifies the category of fields to display in the Name list, for example Date/Time, Document or Entities.
Name
Displays the fields available in the specified category.
Format
Displays the list of available formats.
The available options vary according to the specified field. For example, when you select the Lineweight property, the Format list displays the available units.
List of Field Options
The options available in the Field dialog box options vary according to the specified field.
Name
Displays the fields available in the specified category.
The drawing sheet set options include field codes for common data, such as revision date, drawing sheet number, and drawing sheet category.
Selecting DrawingSheetSet in the Category list, displays the available field types in the Name list. The drawing sheet set field options include field codes for common data, such as revision date, drawing sheet number, and drawing sheet category.
Additional field types let you insert custom properties that you defined for the drawing sheet set or drawing sheets:
- CurrentDrawingSheetCustom. Lets you insert a custom property of the current drawing sheet in a text entity. The custom property name drop-down list displays all available custom properties.
- CurrentDrawingSheetSetCustom. Lets you insert a custom property of the current drawing sheet set in a text entity. The custom property name drop-down list displays all available custom properties.
- DrawingSheetSet. Displays the drawing sheet set navigation tree and lets you include an item of the specified drawing sheet set into a field. Selecting an item in the tree, displays the available properties in the Property list.
- If you select the drawing sheet set, the Property list displays the properties related to the entire set. These properties are used to store information about the project and apply to all drawing sheets from the drawing sheet set. When you include these properties in a drawing sheet set titleblock, all drawing sheets display the same values.
- If you select a drawing sheet, the Property list displays properties related to the selected drawing sheet. When you include these properties in a drawing sheet set titleblock, each drawing sheet display a unique value.
- DrawingSheetView. Displays the views of the drawing sheet set as a tree. You can include an item of the specified drawing sheet set into a field.
- DrawingSheetSetPlaceholder. Lets you insert a placeholder in a callout block or in a view label. When you use the callout block in a drawing sheet from the Sheet Set Manager, placeholders update automatically to display the correct values.

Options for BlockPlaceholder Fields
Block placeholder fields are available only in the Block Editor.
To display the options for BlockPlaceholder fields:
- In the Block Editor, do one of the following:
- In the Block Attribute Definition, click Field.
- In the Field dialog box, do the following:
- In Category, select Entities.
- In Name, select BlockPlaceholder.
Options for Entities Fields
Clicking the Specify Entity button temporarily closes the dialog box and lets you specify an entity in the graphics area.
Property
Lists the properties available as fields for the specified entity. The properties are the same as in the Properties palette.
Entity
Displays the type of the specify entity.
Additional Format
Displays the Additional Format dialog box.
Specify Entity
Closes the Field dialog box and lets you specify an entitiy in the graphics area.
Preview
Displays the value of the specified property.
Options for Formula Fields
Note: Formulas are available when inserting fields in table cells.
The specified formula calculates a value based on the values from the cells and range of cells specified in the graphics area.
The following functions are available and can be used in formulas:
- Sum. Calculates the sum of the values from the defined cells.
- Average. Calculates the average of the values from the defined cells.
- Count. Counts the number of defined cells.
Clicking the corresponding button closes the dialog box and let you specify the range of cells in the graphics area. The formula updates as you specify functions and ranges of cells.
Cell
Closes the dialog box and lets you specify a cell in the graphics area. In the Preview area, the result updates.
Additional Format
Displays the Additional Format dialog box.
Evaluate
Displays the calculated value in the Preview area. If the formula returns an error, the Preview area displays "####".
Options for Drawing Sheet Set and Sheet View Fields
The drawing sheet set options include field codes for common data, such as revision date, drawing sheet number, and drawing sheet category.
The following options are available and can be used in fields:
DrawingSheetSet
Lets you specify a drawing sheet set from the drop-down list. You can add othe drawing sheet sets to the drop-down list clicking

Property
Displays the properties available as fields for the drawing sheet set specified in the navigation tree.
Drawing Sheet Navigation Tree
Displays a tree view of drawing sheets or drawing sheet views from the Sheet Set Manager. You can select an item from the tree and use it in the field.
Selecting an item in the tree, displays the available properties in the Property list.
- If you select a drawing sheet set, the Property list displays the properties related to the entire set. When you include these properties in a drawing sheet set titleblock, all drawing sheets display the same values.These properties are used to store information about the project and apply to all drawing sheets from the drawing sheet set.
- If you select a drawing sheet, the Property list displays properties related to the selected drawing sheet. When you include these properties in a drawing sheet set titleblock, each drawing sheet display a unique value.
Associate Hyperlink
Lets you add a hyperlink to the field.
Additional Format Options
In the Additional Format dialog box, you can set the following options:
Preview
Displays the current value according to the specified format.
Current value
Displays the current value
Field string
Displays the string that underlines the specified formula. You cannot edit this string. However, you can use it to understand how the field is constructed.
Additional text
Specifies a prefix and a suffix for the text.
Number separators
Specifies a decimal separator and the symbol used to represent numbers greater than 100.
Zero suppression
Lets you suppress leading and trailing zeros from the displayed number.
General
- Axis. For coordinates, specifies which value to display.
- Precision. Specifies the decimal precision: 0 to 8 decimal places (for the Decimal, Engineering, or Scientific unit type)
- Conversion factor. Specifies the conversion factor to use on the current value. 1 means no conversion.
- List separator. Specifies the separator for the list items.
